Homework - compare two podcasts
For this comparison, I listened to two different podcasts - Flixwatcher and Elite Cosplay. Flixwatcher is a podcast about reviewing films on Netflix whereas Elite Cosplay is mainly focused on cosplay and producing scents for cosplay.
Both podcasts have two presenters however, they produce podcasts in two different ways. The Flixwatcher podcast has a reasonable pace which is good because the listener can the clearly understand what they are saying whereas the Elite Cosplay podcast has a quick pace, making it harder to understand what they are talking about. Both of the podcasts are informal, they both include jokes and unexpected interruptions. Flixwatcher has a clear introduction and structure to the podcast. Having a clear structure can be clearer for the listener because they then know where in the podcast they have got to. However, Elite Cosplay has a very disorganised structure, this makes it confusing for the listener as they can't understand what point they are up to.
At the beginning of the Flixwatcher podcast, the presenters have included a catchy jingle. The jingle is effective because it draws the listener in and it makes them want to carry on listening. The Elite Cosplay podcast does not feature a jingle, this isn't good because it wouldn't make the listener want to continue listening. The Flixwatcher podcast includes background at the start of the podcast whilst they explain and tell the listener what they will be talking about throughout. Having music in the podcast shows professionalism and the amount of effort gone into the podcast because the music would interest the listener as they don't have to listen to the presenters voices the whole time.
The Flixwatcher podcast has two guests, this is good because it gives the listeners more opinions to listen to and it also makes the podcast more interesting because the listeners don't have to listen to the same two people the whole time. The presenters also briefly interview the two guests, this makes it clearer for the listener to understand who they are. The Elite Cosplay podcast doesn't have guests or interviews. This shows that they have a lack of quality for the podcast and it would also bore the listeners as they have to listen to the same two people throughout.
Both podcasts also have social media pages, this allows the listener to go and find out more about the presenters, about the podcast and they could find out what is going to be covered in the upcoming podcasts. The Flixwatcher's target audience is aimed at adults, they include references from the 80s & 90s whereas the Elite Cosplay's target audience is more aimed at anyone who is interested in costume play.
Overall, the Flixwatcher podcast is more professional and better structured when compared to the Elite Cosplay podcast.
